What you may not know about Matcha

The method of making powdered tea from steam-prepared dried tea leaves became popular in12th century in China. This is when Matcha was discovered by a Buddhist monk who brought it back to Japan as he realised that drinking Matcha improved his Zen meditation sessions by producing a state of calm alertness.

Supports energy & moods:

We now know that one of the ways in which Matcha supports ‘calm alertness’ is through the amino acid L - Theanine. Many studies suggest that L - theanine may influence neurotransmitter levels like dopamine and serotonin to potentially reduce anxiety, and depression and support energy and sleep. Matcha also holds essential vitamins and minerals that can support the body's stress response.

Potent source of antioxidants:

Matcha is 10 times more rich in antioxidants than green tea! Antioxidants help to stabilise free radicals in the body which can create cellular damage and lead to chronic inflammation if unsupported.

Supports healthy cholesterol:

Studies have shown that catechins, which is a type of antioxidant found in Matcha, are responsible for its cholesterol-lowering effects by balancing LDL and HDL cholesterol, supporting the elimination of LDL cholesterol and preventing direct cholesterol absorption in the intestines.

Decreases inflammation & supports the immune system:

Matcha tea has been shown to fortify the immune system and limit the invasion and growth of viruses and bacteria in the body due to the high amount of catechin antioxidants (EGCg).
