Location: Byron Bay HQ | Type: Part-time (20-25 hours/week)
As our Operations Manager, you’ll be at the centre of Mayde Tea’s operations—ensuring everything runs smoothly, efficiently, and in alignment with our values including inventory, production, dispatch, customer experience and financial admin.
You’ll oversee our customer service and dispatch teams, manage rostering, production planning, supplier relationships and systems, while also looking for ways to improve operations and reduce costs. This role is both strategic and hands-on, and you’ll be working closely with the founder to support the continued growth of the brand.
The role includes:
- Overseeing daily business operations across production, dispatch, stock and customer service
- Managing inventory levels and raw materials to avoid shortages and ensure smooth supply
- Planning and scheduling production using Asana to align with forecasts and team capacity
- Managing staff rosters for warehouse and customer service teams
- Supporting dispatch and customer service teams to ensure orders and enquiries are handled efficiently and with care
- Responding to inbound wholesale enquiries and overseeing the onboarding of new stockists
- Managing relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, including:
- Negotiating pricing and terms
- Researching alternative suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising quality
- Coordinating logistics and freight, ensuring timely and economical delivery
- Reviewing and improving internal systems and workflows to reduce inefficiencies
- Analysing sales and inventory data to improve forecasting and support better business decisions
- Managing day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including:
- Payroll processing and onboarding
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Monthly reconciliations and financial reporting
- Supporting the founder on operations strategy, budgeting and process development
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in operations, logistics, supply chain or production management
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and support small teams
- Solid knowledge of bookkeeping, including Xero, payroll and reconciliation
- Highly organised.
- Experienced using Shopify, Xero, Slack, and Asana
- Skilled in negotiation and confident sourcing better pricing or solutions when needed
- A strong communicator with a warm, solution-focused approach
- Comfortable juggling both strategic planning and day-to-day responsibilities
- Aligned with Mayde Tea’s values around wellness, sustainability, and quality
- Willingness to be hands-on when needed, including assisting in the warehouse during peak periods
