A cuppa with … Nilla from VanillaFood

Situated in the coastal town of Noosa Heads, Queensland – VanillaFood have been part of our wholesale family for the past few years – lucky us!

Nilla and her incredible team embrace the power of food as medicine and its ability to bring and connect people together. VanillaFood’s style is flavour first but always with health in mind. A squeeze of fresh citrus, the happy use of fresh herbs and edible flowers keeps every dish bursting with colour.

What are some of your favourites from the summer menu?

N: I love our vegan Bircher – apple, cinnamon, summer berries and housemade pepita milk.. and it will be on the menu for the rest of summer



Eating fresh local produce is important to us here at Mayde Tea. Where do you draw menu inspiration from and who are your local suppliers?

N: Having beautiful local produce is great. We use a lot of local suppliers and producers including – wild forage, nurtured greens and we receive a big organic order from Brisbane weekly. We are also lucky enough to have our own kitchen garden.



Which Mayde Tea blend is your tea of choice and why?

N: Digest – I love it in the morning, as soon as I get to the shop – it makes you feel good and so tasty and it’s also perfect to have just before bed



Sustainability is at the forefront of everything we do here at Mayde, consistently looking at ways we can tread lightly as a small business. What little environmental changes is VanillaFood making as a small business?

N: We try do as much as we can at VanillaFood. We compost on site, recycle (incl soft plastics), opt for plastic free / reusable packaging, use organic and chemical free produce, and we also have a range of ‘eco’ retail products.



What do you love most about Noosa and Far North Queensland?

N: Noosa is a magical place to call home. Beautiful beaches, national parks, farmers markets and some incredible restaurants – Wasabi and The Beach House are two of my favourites
