Where We Source Our Certified Organic Cacao
At Mayde Tea, we are passionate about sourcing high-quality ingredients that are both ethical and sustainable. Our certified organic cacao is no exception.
Our Long-Standing Partnership
Our manufacturer has been working with the same cacao supplier for over 12 years, ensuring a strong and trusted relationship. The cacao beans are grown in Tarapoto, located in the northern part of Peru, known for its rich, fertile soil and ideal growing conditions for cacao.
Vertical Integration for Quality and Sustainability
Our supplier is vertically integrated, which means they own the farms where the cacao beans are grown. This allows them to maintain strict quality control over the farming process, ensuring that the cacao is grown using organic methods. They also take the time to teach their employees about organic farming techniques to ensure long-term sustainability.
Supporting the Local Community
In addition to promoting organic farming, our supplier provides two meals a day to their workers and, when needed, offers accommodation for their families. This commitment to supporting local communities is an important part of the ethical sourcing we believe in.
Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance Certified
Our supplier follows all fair-trade practices and is both Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance certified. These certifications ensure that the cacao is produced under ethical conditions, with fair wages and safe working environments for all involved.
