MAYDE TEA DURING PREGNANCY
We’ve been getting a lot of questions around pregnancy- which herbs are safe, and most importantly why don’t we do a ‘pregnancy tea.’
This is something I often consider, but each time I do- I come back to one of the most important naturopathic principles, which is- ‘treat the whole person’
This to me, is such a perfect reminder of everyone’s individuality. Pregnancy is something that is experienced so differently by women. If I was to formulate a ‘pregnancy’ tea- there’s never going to be a one size fits all formula. Some women experience insomnia, anxiety and restlessness and need their nervous system to be calmed. Whereas others have such low energy that they can barely get out of bed.
I often recommend teas from our current range for the following:
If your digestion is sluggish, you’re feeling bloated or getting cramping after meals I recommend our Digest blend. Have 3 cups of digest tea per day after meals.
If your sleep is compromised, you’re feeling anxious or irritable, I recommend the Serenity tea iced in your drink bottle throughout the day, plus a warm cup just before bed.
If you’re feeling low in energy (who isn’t when they’re pregnant?!) I recommend our Energise tea on rising, and any time throughout the day when needed. (Also very important to have nutrient levels such as iron checked!)
If you have sugar cravings our Rooibos Turmeric Chai is an antioxidant-rich tonic that can be enjoyed with some almond milk and a touch of honey.
If you are ever unsure what is right for you during pregnancy, it is recommended to speak with your own health professional before introducing anything new into your diet.
