Naturopathic support for Acne.

Acne is a multifactorial skin condition that can have far-reaching effects. It is often associated with physical discomfort and can cause emotional distress and impact self-confidence. Here at Mayde Tea, we understand the frustration and discontentment acne brings up. We recommend a whole health approach to treating acne that considers detoxification, hormonal balance, blood sugar, and nutritional status.

Detoxification

Our body utilises our lungs, kidneys, liver, colon, and skin to filter and eradicate toxins. For this reason, acne can be a sign of under-functioning elimination pathways. Ensuring regular physical activity, optimising fibre intake, and drinking enough water are simple ways to enhance your elimination pathways and decrease acne. You can enhance your daily water intake by drinking our Cleanse blend - a tailor-made blend of depurative and antioxidant herbs.

Microbiome health

There is truth to the saying that our skin is a representation of our internal environment. In particular, our microbiome plays a large role in our skin health. We house trillions of bacteria in our gastrointestinal tract, some good and some bad. You can encourage the growth and nourish the good bacteria by increasing your stomach acid, incorporating prebiotic-rich foods, practising mindful eating, and consuming our Digest blend after a meal.

Hormonal Balance

Our hormones operate on a delicate balance that is significantly upset by chronic stress, poor dietary choices, lack of movement, and exposure to environmental toxins. Stress wreaks havoc on our hormones, with our body having to prioritise the production of our stress hormones at the expense of those that nourish and support our vitality and skin. Choosing to prioritise your hormone health looks like decreasing stress, consuming adequate healthy fats, and moving your body daily. Our Adapt blend can help buffer your body's response to stress whilst you learn to integrate healthier daily habits.

Blood Sugar

Spikes in blood sugar occur when we consume food that is processed, high in sugar, or that doesn't meet our nutritional needs. These spikes are soon followed by rapid drops that leave us craving more nourishment. Frequent blood sugar highs and lows cause chaos by triggering inflammation, dysregulating insulin, and driving our skin to secrete more sebum (which worsens any existing breakouts). Blood sugar regulation can be supported with the consumption of our Energise blend which contains a blend of ginger and cinnamon to modulate those blood sugar highs and lows.

Nutritional status

Skin health is supported by a few key nutrients that are integral for optimal repair and skin barrier health. These nutrients are zinc, essential fatty acids, Vitamin A, Selenium, and Vitamin E. It is a great idea to always aim for a rainbow on your plate to achieve a diverse range of nutrients. Think beetroots, papaya, pineapple, spinach, pumpkin, pomegranate, and oranges. Our Green Sencha, Jasmine, and Rose blend is rich in anti-inflammatory nutrients, Vitamin C, and antioxidants to prioritise that nutrient diversity your skin is craving.
